On June 6th, Legislative Affairs Office of the State Council solicited public opinion over Copyright Law of the People’s Republic of China (Amendment Draft for Examination and Approval). According to the Examination and Approval regulations, right of seizure and retentions of the copyright administrative department should be strengthened.

In the Examination and Approval regulations, Article 17 of Copyright Law has been reintegrated, in which, four rights: right of amendment, right of showing, right of making cinematographic works, right of compilation have been canceled and broadcasting right has been revised as right of broadcasting. To prevent the infringement effectively, penalty in the Examination and Approval has been increased based on the Implementing Regulations of the Copyright Law, multiple of which has been increased to 5 times of illegal business revenue from 3 times, i.e. 250,000 yuan from 100,000 yuan.
