Global Forum on Intellectual Property Rights Protection and Innovation Held in Beijing

The opening ceremony of Global Forum on Intellectual Property Rights Protection and Innovation was held in Beijing on March 27, 2007. Vice Premier WU Yi sent a congratulatory letter, and State Councilor CHEN Zhili attended the opening ceremony and addressed the Forum.

In the congratulatory letter, WU Yi said that the Chinese government highly attaches great importance to the construction of self innovation ability and has established the development strategy on building an innovative country and in the meantime, China will continue to make the intellectual property system as perfect as possible and intensify the protection of the intellectual property. The Chinese government will continue taking more effective action in protecting the intellectual property and would like to enhance collaboration with the international community and learn from each other in an effort to push forward the work on the IP protection in China. The forum makes a meaningful try to foster the self-innovation and promote the protection of the intellectual property. She hopes that every one could talk freely at this forum and learn from each other aiming at further strengthening cooperation in the field of IP protection.

In her address, CHEN Zhili pointed out that every one witnessed the Chinese achievement in the past 20 years in the field of intellectual property protection due to this fact that the Chinese government takes a firm attitude and a powerful measure. There has been a complete Intellectual Property Law system in China, which suits the Chinese current situation and meets with the international practice, establishing a complete IP working system including IP administrative approval, publicizing and training, agent service and academic research, forming an administrative and judicial IP enforcement system featuring “two avenues,parallel running”. She added that China will fulfill her international obligation seriously and enhance the extensive collaboration with countries worldwide and international organizations in an active attitude.
